French Louis XV Boulle table marquetry, blackened wood, brass and inlays. Large drawer on the front.

Possibly attributed to J. VEER, ebenisterie, bronzier, 1 Rue du Passage, Circa – 1860

An outstanding and rare free-standing French Louis XV style serpentine shaped Boulle. Large table in Boulle marquetry in brass on red scale, with a rich ornamentation of gilt bronzes.

The table top is rimmed with a gilt bronze mount, finely chiselled with ova and foliage. Satyr and Maenad heads adorn the underside of the table top and legs. It is set on four cambriole legs that end in gilt bronze hooves. Each corner is decorated with an espagnolette, a typical ornamentation of Regency and Louis XV periods. Some old delicate restorations and light traces of wear have no effect to the presentation of this outstanding piece.

The table has exceptional deeply shaped cabriole legs which are ebonised on the insides with magnificent quality deep cast scroll leaf and cherub bronze gilt chased mounts and feet. The frieze of the table is fitted with an oak lined drawer and cast acanthus leaf mouldings with demi-god mounts to each side.

The table frame is made of oak which again is a sign of quality.

This "Boulle" Table will conquer lovers of Chic, Refined Furniture and could become THE room in your home to which all eyes will turn.
