At the beginning of the 20th century the Plège circus was one of the best French circus and the main competitor of Theodore Rancy. Antoine Plège directed the circus to his name until the end of these days in 1898, his widow took over the direction and in 1902 gave the reins of the establishment to his son André who directed until 1909. It is the last daughter of Antoine Plège, Lucie who married after the death of his father the cyclist acrobat Ugo Ancillotti. In 1908 they created the circus Ancillotti-Plège, a circus music hall without horses. The war stopped the rise of this trade which presented an excellent spectacle.
