Milton Glaser (born June 26, 1929) is an American graphic designer. His designs include the I ❤ NY logo, the psychedelic Bob Dylan poster, and the Brooklyn Brewery logo. In 1954, he also co-founded Push Pin Studios, founded New York Magazine with Clay Felker, and established Milton Glaser, Inc. in 1974. His artwork has been featured in exhibits, and placed in permanent collections in many museums worldwide. Throughout his long career, he has designed many posters, publications and architectural designs. He has received many awards for his work, including the National Medal of the Arts award in 2009. He was the first graphic designer to receive this award.

Milton Glaser on the 50 Years of Vespaposter: “Vespa is about moving in space so I thought I would move the stripes so that they were blurred, so that you immediately got the idea that this is what happens when you are sitting on a Vespa: you see the world go by, they get fuzzy at the edges. Then I thought I would take advantage of how well the Vespa was known by treating the type vertically instead of horizontally, so that I challenge you to understand what you are reading or looking at.” Vespa is an Italian brand of scooter manufactured by Piaggio. The name means wasp in Italian. The Vespa has evolved from a single model motor scooter manufactured in 1946 by Piaggio & Co. S.p.A. of Pontedera, Italy to a full line of scooters and one of seven companies today owned by Piaggio.

This is the real thing—a rare, original promotional poster. "Original" means this is the actual item that was printed in the year cited above and distributed by a movie studio to theaters for promotion. It is not a reprint. Promo posters are limited editions as only a small number were printed to promote the artist or production. To be truly collectible a poster must be an original.
